It is crazy to think how many new things have come up this offseason. Even though, I’m with the same team, changing cities has definitely been an adjustment for all of us. Luckily we are just up the road from San Diego, so we still get to enjoy the Southern California weather. We are really excited to bring football back to LA and represent this amazing city.
A lot of people in the media have been talking negatively about us having to play our home games in the StubHub Center. I know it may be the smallest stadium in the league with just about 27,000 seats but that will give us an unique home field advantage. With fans cheering just feet away from the benches, the energy in the stadium will be off the charts. Something no other team in the league can say.
Another unique aspect of our new hometown has been sharing LA with the Rams. People keep talking about a cross town rivalry. I just don’t see things that way. There’s no doubt in my mind that this rivalry will build up over time. The media and fans will help fuel the fire, but for now we are just going to keep our focus week to week.
I am looking forward to being able to compete against Rams RB Todd Gurley during the season. It is great to have one of the best backs in the league just across town. He had the better rookie year out of the two of us, but I managed to get him last year. I guess we’ll have to see what happens this year. We’re both competing to be the best back in the league, but there are a lot of backs we have to keep our eyes on. David Johnson, Le’Veon, AP and Zeke are all guys who have proven their talent in this league.
My injury only motivated me during the offseason to work on my conditioning and refocus on new goals. I can’t wait to see what this new season will hold for the Chargers. Hope you guys are ready! Bolt Up!!
